Jason Jerome Cover (1823 - 1893) At age 17, worked long hours as a clerk for the firm of Creigh & Shauck, then for J.T. Creigh for nine years before being taken in as a partner at D.M. & J.T. Creigh, where he remained for 5 years before opening his own general store in Johnsville, OH. Over the 1850’s-60’s, Cover hired many young clerks, such as Samuel Wagner, who would later go on and start their own successful businesses both in town and elsewhere. Jason would make it a point to travel often to New York City about once every 6 months to purchase supplies for his store - some 39 times by one account. On one of his trips in 1861, he bought a very large amount of goods, and it took nearly 3 years to sell it all.
