August 3, 1863 The Western Insurance & Transportation Company is renamed the Union Transportation & Insurance Company. Operation of the "Union Line" or "Star Union Line" begins over the Pennsylvania Railroad and connections. The company guarantees 6-day service between Chicago and New York.
Jan. 1865 Union Transportation & Insurance Company renamed "Union R.R. & Transportation Company" to avoid implication that the company automatically insures all shipments.
Showing only minor wear from use and handling consistent with its age. One fold crease at center. No tears or any other major issues to note. Eye-catching bold header type faces / fonts, legible hand writing and red star. Overall, in very good condition. An excellent framing candidate.
