New York & Pennsylvania Ry 1914 Special Weekly Ticket Scarce #5643
The New York and Pennsylvania Railroad 1894-1917 (for passenger service) was plagued in its latter years by multiple 1916-17 flooding damages, which also affected service for several large nearby businesses that, in turn depended on the line for freight business and eventually went out of business, which combined with the ever depleting volume of lumber, coal and other natural resources, it was announced on 11/30/17 the suspension of all operations would go into effect the following day. Although afterwards, some of the freight service was restored, the entire operation ended in 1935. December 1, 1917 was the end of passenger service.
On firm card stock. Showing only minor signs of wear and handling consistent with its age. There is a stamp including "1914" incised from a strong punch or stamp on the reverse. No major issues to note. Will display well in your collection. You will receive the exact ticket shown in the photos. It measures approx. 2 1/4" x 3 7/8"
**Shipped securely in a poly sleeve, sandwiched in cardboard, inside a rigid mailer via USPS Ground Advantage service w/ tracking**
