George D. Wadhams was involved in button making in the late 1830's and 1840's, was a Torrington, CT probate judge in and around the year 1849, ran for (and won) State Senator under the Union Party in 1857. He was also involved in the formation of the Naugatuck Railroad opening in 1849.
The Naugatuck Railroad has a long history in Connecticut, with the original railroad chartered in 1845 and opening in 1849. The railroad ran from Bridgeport to Winsted, following the Naugatuck River. It changed ownership several times due to economic changes, and in 1887 the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad leased the line. By 1906, the railroad was fully owned by the New Haven and Hartford Railroad.
Showing barely any signs of wear and handling consistent with its age. No expected fold creases from posting. Has a clean barely noticeable "+" shape cut cancel near center. No major issues to note.
