John E. Rose Letterhead & Ham's Lanterns Cover Richmond to Geo. E. Wear 1896

George E. Wear (1847-1908) was a retail merchant located in Mineral, VA - which up until 2010, never held a population greater than 500, and was the center of gold mining activity in Louisa County. At one point, there were as many as 15 gold mines operating within a 2 mile radius of this town. This sheet is part of a large collection of billheads, letterheads and covers that just came to market with a connection to Mr. Wear and the products he purchased to offer for sale to his customers. This cover is addressed to Mr. Wear in Sulphur Mines, a town nearby Mineral.

Included is the spectacular cover shown in the photos. It appears to have originally accompanied the letterhead.

On watermarked ledger / lined stock. Showing only minor signs of age, use and handling consistent with it's age. Expected fold creases from posting. No tears or loss. Edges and corners are crisp. 100% of the printed text is legible. Clean bold legible hand writing. Eye-catching stove vignette. In very good condition. Will display well in your collection. An excellent framing candidate. You will receive the exact example as seen in the photos. It measures approx. 8" x 13 3/4"
