Welcome to my listing for:
Drewry, Hughes & Co. (Dry Goods) Letterhead Richmond, VA to Geo. E. Wear 1894
George E. Wear (1847-1908) was a retail merchant located in Mineral, VA - which up until 2010, never held a population greater than 500, and was the center of gold mining activity in Louisa County. At one point, there were as many as 15 gold mines operating within a 2 mile radius of this town. This sheet is part of a large collection of billheads, letterheads and covers that just came to market with a connection to Mr. Wear and the products he purchased to offer for sale to his customers. Some of the billheads and letterheads are addressed to Mr. Wear in Sulphur Mines, a town nearby Mineral.
Condition: On watermarked paper stock. Showing only minor signs of age, use and handling consistent with it's age. Expected fold creases from posting. Right edge loss. Edges and corners are crisp. 100% of the printed and hand written text is legible. Eye-catching typography. In very good condition. Will display well in your collection. An excellent framing candidate. You will receive the exact example as seen in the photos. It measures approx. 5 7/8" x 9 3/8"
