Welcome to my listing for:
D. Beaulieu Sarsaparilla Soda Label Lowell, MA c1888 - Bufford Litho, Boston*
John Bufford (1810-1870) was pioneer of Lithography in America. It is thought by some that his work was second only to Nathaniel Currier. John certainly had much more output than Currier, but nowhere near the notoriety. Bufford's sons, whom he work with as partners on and off over the years, carried on the business for 20 years after John's death in 1870. Although there is virtually no information available on D. Beaulieu's beverage company in Lowell, MA, we can narrow down the date of the label to just before Bufford's Litho company went out of business in 1890.
Very scarce. This label is showing minor signs of wear and handling. A few very slight surface creases. No major issues to note. Overall, clean and in very good condition. Colors are vibrant and is finished / treated with a clear coat smooth surface (which is common with produce labels of the same era) You will receive the exact label shown in the photos. At its widest points, it measures approx. 2 3/4" x 4"
This will ship securely inside a poly sleeve, sandwiched with cardboard, in a small rigid mailer via USPS Ground Advantage service with a tracking number. The shipping cost for the first purchase is $4.00 and no extra cost for additional postcards shipped in the same package.
