*J.J. (James Joseph) believed to be the son of Dixon Brabban that was part owner of the Bank of La Porte (his signature as cashier on this draft), joining Simeon Wheeler in the Bank of La Porte's ownership when he purchased the Kleckner brothers stock, where he became president. He was a mason, tax collector (1883-1889) for Plumas and Lassen Counties and the portion of Sierra County north of Canyon Creek, general merchandiser (1889), and a Wells Fargo Agent (1888-1892)

Only minor signs of wear or handling consistent with its age. May have cut cancels, hole punch cancels and / or slight expected fold creases from posting. No unexpected stains, tears, holes, folds, creases or paper loss. Eye-catching illustrated mining vignette, bold header type face / font and legible hand writing. Overall, clean and in very good condition. You will receive the exact check shown in the photos. It measures approx. 3 1/4" x 8 5/8"
