Welcome to my listing for:
1940 Iowa State Fair Auto Race Driver or Mechanic Ticket / Pass #72 Scarce
This is part of a well cared for lifetime collection of mostly 1940's-50's racing ephemera assembled by a young couple that married in 1946 and both loved racing. They traveled extensively in the 5 years before they had children - and along the way, became close friends with of many of the drivers and their wives. This couple's daughter spoke to me about when her parents could no longer travel as freely as they did as newlyweds, when their family grew, they passed on their love for racing. In particular, the Indy 500 was a very big event every year. There was much activity around the house and the family gathered around the radio for the 4-5 hour race duration back in the 1960's. She wrote that Indy day was like a holiday. She was very happy to hear that these items would go to new homes to be appreciated by racing fans and become part of their collections.
On heavy rigid card stock. Showing barely any signs of wear and handling consistent with its age. Scrapbook mount remnants on the reverse. Elsewhere, no major issues to note. Overall, very clean and in very good condition. Will display well in your collection. You will receive the exact ticket shown in the photos. At its widest points, it measures approx. 2 1/2" x 2 1/2"
**Shipped securely in a poly sleeve, inside a rigid mailer via USPS Ground Advantage service with full tracking**
