The Goodyear company that we all know today was established in 1898 by Frank Seiberling as the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Akron, Ohio and was named in honor of Charles Goodyear, whom received his patent over 50 years earlier in 1844 for the Vulcanization process. Generally, any item with the Goodyear name on it relating to rubber anytime before 1898 is associated with the use of a Goodyear patent license and is scarce.
