Welcome to my listing for:
1864 Stockton, ME* Letter of Offer Acceptance Thompson Grant Staples Selectmen
Stockton, ME* - In 1794, the incorporated area known as Prospect, ME in 1857 was renamed Stockton, after a port in England as an incorporated town until Feb, 5 1889 was renamed Stockton Springs in anticpation of bottling local spring water. When sediment was discovered at the bottom of the bottles, the plan was abandoned.
This was part of a large collection of letterheads, billheads and other paper items where the cover's contents were as found - folded for posting, possibly for decades, if not for 50-100 years and leaving the well protected sheets clean, with crisp edges, only minor signs of wear or handling. All have expected fold creases from posting. General condition issues are noted below:
Showing only minor signs of wear and handling consistent with its age. Expected creases from posting. Bottom left corner fold-over. Elsewhere, no issues to note. Eye-catching legible hand writing. Overall, in good to very good condition. Will display well in your collection. You will receive the exact sheet shown in the photos. It measures approx. 7 1/2" x 9 3/4"
**Shipped securely in poly bag, sandwiched in cardboard inside a rigid mailer via USPS Ground Advantage service w/ tracking**
