Alfred's brother, Amos, became a conductor of the same in 1855 and for as many or more years.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe Naugatuck Railroad has a long history in Connecticut, with the original railroad chartered in 1845 and opening in 1849. The railroad ran from Bridgeport to Winsted, following the Naugatuck River. It changed ownership several times due to economic changes, and in 1887 the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad leased the line. By 1906, the railroad was fully owned by the New Haven and Hartford Railroad.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eShowing barely any signs of wear and handling consistent with its age.
