(See last photo for Amos's obituary) In 1957, at age 24, Amos Kimball, a relative (his mother was a Knowlton) Began a restoration of the store as a private museum, to bring it back to how it appeared, both inside and out, when it closed in 1921. The museum \/ store has been open for decades and still may be available to visit today by appointment. In 1978, \"The Knowlton Store\" was placed on National Register of Historic Places.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eJabez also served as Newburgh's Postmaster and Selectman for 40 years and as Treasurer for 37 years.
